Sending email from whatever internet connection you are plugged into when you are not connected to your standard ISP?

Sending email is usually done through the ISP (Internet Service Provider) that you are connected to, i.e. Bigpond, Optusnet, TPG, iiNET or whatever.

Email is sent out via a certain ?Port?, the standard being 25 for SMTP, and you must have an account with that ISP and be logged in to allow this to happen.

My ISP is iiNET so if I plug into your network connection, which I think is Bigpond, they (Bigpond) do not allow me to send email via their server unless I have provided a valid login and password within the setup of Outlook etc. In my case this is a bit invasive when connecting via various clients? broadband connections, wireless or otherwise.

The alternative is to send it via some other SMTP mail server, possibly having to use a different port number since ISPs are often not happy if you use Port 25 to anywhere other than their servers ? because of potential spamming through their machines etc., via a technique called ?Relaying?.

If the ISP yur are "visiting" is blocking you then you may need to use a service such as www.DNSEXIT.com, which  provides an SMTP server: relay.dnsexit.com which accepted Port 26 which usually bypasses the blocking by ISPs. The costs of this is something like $20 AUD per yea for somethin glike 150 emails per day.
