Do not type in UPPERCASE

Typing in uppercase is widely LIKENED TO YELLING and it is considered very bad form to type your whole message in uppercase.

Only use uppercase to emphasis a word or a specific point.

When forwarding, delete all but the message part of the email

We all hate having our email Inbox cluttered with SPAM.

Many times I have been asked: "How to SPAMM ERs get my email address?"

The answer could be one or more of the following:

  • You have it public ally displayed on advertising or a web site
  • You have participated in an Internet forum and had to specify your email address to be included
  • One of your friends has forwarded an email from you to one or more of their friends, without deleting the original message details, i.e. your email address.
This may have subsequently been forwarded on to more recipients, and so on until it arrived at someone who collects email addresses for the purposes of SPAMMING.

Whilst in business circles it is often important to maintain an email "history trail" by NOYT deleting the preceding message, for social or joke email this is not the case.

You can help avoid this problem for your friends and associates by deleting al previous email detail other than the content that you wish to forward.

This also has the added benefit in that the recipient then does not need to wade through pages of prior message details in order to find "what you really wanted them to read".

Send to multiple Recipients by using the BCC rather then the TO field.

if it is important for recipient to be able to see who else received an email then you should use the TO or CC (Carbon Copy) field.

If however you are sending an email to multiple recipients within your Contacts List or Address book, and they don't need to know who else received it, use the BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) field to protect their privacy (for the same reasons as mentioned above).

If your ISP objects to not having anyone listed in the TO field, simply add your own email address in the TO field and send it to yourself.

How can i get rid of those annoying ">" symbols in my emails?

Yes, there is a simple free tool, called "Cleaner", that you can download to do this.
